Day 165
My conceptual artwork explores different ways someone with an invisible disability experiences the world. 398 Days, showcases the beauty of Key West while taking a closer look at our unique experience of quarantine on an island. My tiny island was cut off from the world to protect its residents and limited medical facilities. I only left my house for a daily run as a high-risk individual, all while I created photographs. This project is a true love letter to the calm and beauty of the island without all the tourism present. The waters were crystal clear for the first time in decades. I hoped that sharing my photographs each day it would help others to have a peaceful moment in their day. The sense of isolation and fear was palpable. Yet, taking the same photo in the same location over and over became a rare comfort in my routine.
