Story Book

This colorful take on a Lowcountry Marsh is part of my Fairy Tale series. I painted this series with purposeful abandon, plucking color and sensibilities out of my childhood memory and dream banks, my studio dotted with memorabilia from my childhood, books, jewelry boxes, dolls and mementos. I work using the emotional fodder from my life, feelings and impressions, both past and present and folding them in with the paint, palette knife and brushes, and working alla prima always guessing just the moment to stop and hope the passion of the moment and past will be captured in the paint and brushwork.
