The Depths Award of Distinction

This piece is a 24” x 36” palette knife oil painting depicting the ocean from above. While painting this piece I was inspired by water – it’s cleansing abilities both within our bodies, and on earth – within nature. Its ebb and flow revitalizes. Water is life giving. Not a single organism can survive without it. Yet, it’s also destructive. Its sheer magnitude is formidable. Water is simultaneously beautiful and terrifying; powerful and serene, destructive and replenishing. Water is an amazing paradox.
