From the Juror, Amy Hollan:
Best in Show winner, Escape from New York by Collin Douma, is brilliantly executed, both in its technical skill and in its creativity to the theme and sense of play and whimsy. As one who has seen various versions of the King Kong story on the big screen over the years and who has traveled on the Staten Island Ferry and experienced the grand scale of this NYC water vessel, I can attest this scene is best viewed safely from the comfort of home!
Award of Distinction winners for their creativity and artistic merit include Meaghan Troup for the rich texture and color created in the palette knife oil painting of The Depths, photographer Erica Sloan for her shimmering crescent moon reflected on the water in Crescent Flats, and Lisa McKenna for her surreal mixed media landscape imagined in Underneath.
JUST IN! Congratulations to our Artist’s Choice award winner Margaret Fisher for Sunset from a Felucca and to People’s Choice award winner Sumi Chatterjee for Catch of the Day.
